What we keep about you

Your name, phone number, town and state; your email address, only if you add and confirm one; your password, stored only in scrambled form; the communities you belong to and your roles in them; levies you pay, the payment evidence you upload, your votes; and the record of who confirmed your identity and when.

Why we keep it

To run the communities you take part in, and to give you one identity that people in your communities have confirmed. Over time this identity is meant to work across other mmiri28 apps, but only where you agree to it.

Who can see what

Approved members of your communities see your name, town, state, roles and whether your identity has been confirmed. They see your phone number only if you allow it, and you can change that at any time in Settings. When you ask to join a community, the people who review new members see your phone number so they can reach you. Payments you make appear in that community's ledger. If an officer records money you gave in cash, their name is kept with the payment, and a second officer must confirm it. If you give anonymously, members see only the amount; the officers who record and confirm it see your name. If you are removed from a community, the reason is kept with that community's records.

Reports officers can download

The Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer (and any role given the same rights) can download PDF reports of their community: the money report, the member register, meetings and votes, and the constitution. The member register shows your phone number only if you allow members to see it. Each report names who made it and when. Ordinary members cannot download reports. Once downloaded, a report is in the officer's hands, and the community's constitution decides how it may be shared.

Your ID card

Your ID card has a code and a QR. Anyone who scans it or types the code sees your name and how many communities have vouched for you. They see your town, state, country of origin, communities or phone number only if you switch each of them on under My ID, and switching one off works straight away. You can get a new code at any time; the old one then shows as cancelled.

Savings circles

Savings circles are separate from communities. MeetBook records who paid each round and who confirmed it; it never holds or moves money. Only people whose ID is confirmed can start or ask to join a circle. When you ask to join, the organiser sees your full name, that your ID is confirmed and by how many verifiers, when you joined MeetBook, and your savings record (circles finished and shares never confirmed). Members of a circle see each other's first name and last initial and who has paid; payment notes and receipts are seen only by the payer, the collector and the organiser. The transfer details a collector adds for their turn are shown only to the circle's members and deleted when that round closes. Receipts are deleted two months after the collector confirms the payment; the payment record stays. A circle link shows the circle's name, amount and places to anyone who has it, never members' names.

If you forget your password

You can prove the account is yours by sending a short WhatsApp message from your account's number, or by opening a link we send to the email address you confirmed. Your email is used only for this and for confirming it; we never send newsletters or share it. A reset signs you out on your other devices. Reset requests and links are deleted after a week.

How long we keep payment proof

Screenshots, receipts and short videos you upload as proof of a payment are kept while an officer checks the payment. Two months after the payment is verified, the file is deleted automatically. The payment itself (the amount, the date and who verified it) stays in the community's ledger, so the community's records stay complete.

When something is deleted

If you delete your account, you are signed out everywhere and have 14 days to change your mind by signing in again. After 14 days your name and phone number are removed for good. If a Chairman deletes a community, it becomes read-only and every member is told; after 30 days its data is removed for good. During those 30 days the Chairman can keep the community, and officers can still download its reports.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal data. If we ever offer to share your profile with another app or organisation, we will ask you first, separately, each time.

Where it is stored

Your data and payment proof are stored in Ireland (Supabase). The app runs on servers in Frankfurt, Germany (Fly.io). Both are in the EU. The web pages themselves are delivered by Netlify, which handles technical data such as your IP address to show you the site. Emails (confirming an address, reset links) are sent through Resend, which is certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. WhatsApp messages you send to MeetBook go through Meta.

Your rights

You can see and correct your profile in Settings, switch phone sharing on or off, and delete your account. When your account is deleted (14 days after you ask), your name and phone number are removed; entries in community ledgers remain, shown as “Deleted User”, so the community's records stay complete. You have rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Questions or requests: support@mmiri28.com.
